#WhyIPMC guest blog by Louis Berkowitz, 2-year rider / 1-year volunteer, Team Erica's Entourage IMG_7791

Growing up, watching my father Richard Berkowitz train and fundraise for his childhood friend, Billy Starr's bike ride was a fixture of my childhood. Fast forward to now, this year will be my second ride. When I first began my personal PMC journey, I didn’t quite grasp how deeply engrained the PMC would become in my life. Not only will I get to cross Ptown with my father this year for the $1 billion mark, I will also get to ride with my second family, Jon, Amanda, Matt and Cindy Chase who my father met through the PMC. I also have the pleasure to ride with three of my best friends, Noah Rothman, Harrison Eisberg and Max Marell for a second year. Their steadfast dedication to the ride that is so deeply personal to me has been a joy to watch and I am deeply appreciative of them.

It’s hard to understand the impact of the PMC - the personal benefits of training, fundraising and making new connections within the community is unreplicable. Knowing that our contributions fund an institution like Dana-Farber that gives hope to people around the world to live to see another day with their loved ones is a sacred privilege that we cannot take lightly.IMG_1983 It’s an honor to be part of a community that contributes to an institution that has such a significant impact on people across the world. That’s Why I Ride.IMG_7799
