Why I Ride PMC?

I first learned about the PMC through my company, Bay State Physical Therapythe Official Physical Therapy Partner of the PMC. I signed up to ride and volunteer simply because this is an amazing cause that raises awareness and helps conquer cancer. I continue to sign up and ride each year because of the experiences I have gained and the people I have met along the way. image3

I am a physical therapist who works in an outpatient clinic with a wide variety of patients. In December 2021, I met this adorable little girl named Celia. Celia was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2020. She was 4 years old at the time and coming in to see me after the effects of chemotherapy. I have had the pleasure of treating Celia as we worked on gross motor milestones, balance, and general strengthening. It is so inspiring to see Celia grow stronger each session.

We truly get to learn from one another. I am proud to be able to teach her more about body awareness and strength. As a physical therapist, it is so rewarding to then see these results translate to being able to play in the playground and run around with children her age. I am able to witness firsthand her courage and bravery. Celia has become more than just a patient and pedal partner; she has become a friend and family member.

I ride for Celia because she has shown me what perseverance and optimism look like, and I am inspired everyday as a person and in my career to strive for health and happiness. Now our whole team can ride for Celia, with her as our perfect pedal partner.
