The Pan-Mass Challenge is pleased to announce that Takeda will be returning as the sponsor of the Wellesley hub site for the fourth consecutive year.
As the largest single athletic fundraising event in the world, the PMC makes a significant impact on the fight against cancer by donating 100 percent of all rider-raised dollars to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Dana-Farber) to support cancer research and treatment. Takeda is proud to not only sponsor this event, but is thrilled to participate once again as Team Takeda Oncology will ride the PMC for the 14th consecutive year.
“The fight against cancer is not over until we find a cure, and we cannot achieve this tremendous aspiration alone. We know it takes each of us in the community joining efforts to facilitate meaningful change and improvement in cancer care, and a critical way to do this is through research,” said Stefanie Granado, head, US oncology business unit, Takeda Oncology. “We are proud to be a partner and sponsor of the PMC, which epitomizes the impact that can be made when individuals come together for a common cause.”
This year’s ride will take place on Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4, with the goal of raising $75 million for Dana-Farber. This will be the highest fundraising goal to date—positioning the organization to surpass a monumental $1 billion in lifetime fundraising for the Institute.
"On behalf of the entire PMC community, I am pleased to continue our partnership and welcome back Takeda as an official sponsor for PMC 2024,” said Billy Starr, founder and executive director of the PMC. “We are grateful for Takeda’s dedication and contribution, both on and off the bike, as we pedal toward a record-breaking $75 million for our sole beneficiary, Dana-Farber.”
In 2023, the PMC raised a record-breaking $72 million for Dana-Farber, bringing its 44-year contribution to $972 million since its inception in 1980. The PMC is Dana-Farber’s single largest contributor, accounting for 62 percent of the annual revenue at The Jimmy Fund®. About the Pan-Mass Challenge
The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is a bike-a-thon that today raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the world. The PMC was founded in 1980 by Billy Starr, who remains the event's executive director, an annual cyclist, and a fundraiser. The PMC has since raised $972 million for adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. The event donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to the cause, generating 62 percent of the Jimmy Fund's annual revenue as Dana-Farber's single largest contributor. The PMC has successfully melded support from committed cyclists, volunteers, corporate sponsors, and individual contributors, all of which are essential to the PMC's goal and model: to attain maximum fundraising efficiency while increasing its annual gift. The PMC's hope and aspiration is to provide Dana-Farber's doctors and researchers with the necessary resources to discover cures for all cancers.
