Boston's Mike FM joins the PMC as our official radio sponsor. Here's the announcement:

BOSTON —  The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, the nation's most successful athletic fundraising event, has signed WMKK, Mike FM 93.7, as its official and exclusive radio sponsor. The radio station will promote the efforts of more than 5,000 cyclists who will ride up to 190 miles in the 2009 PMC to raise millions of dollars for cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund.

Mike FM will sponsor the Pan-Mass Challenge under its "Random Acts of Kindness" program by providing public service announcements during the spring training season and over PMC weekend, which is August 1 & 2. As part of the Random Acts of Kindness program, the station will also broadcast live from different hubs along the seven PMC routes over PMC weekend, including the Babson College start and finish lines in Wellesley on Sunday, August 2. The Mike FM team will appear at four PMC Kids Rides in May and June and the station will post information about the PMC on its website and promote the event and its mission through an email campaign. All of the Entercom New England radio stations will air PSAs for the PMC throughout training season.

"We look forward to hearing about the Pan-Mass Challenge on the radio," says PMC Founder and Executive Director Billy Starr. "In the past 30 years, the PMC has not paid for advertising, which is one of the reasons the PMC is able to give 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to the Jimmy Fund. But, we still need to get the word out that we are still actively recruiting cyclists for the 2009 PMC team. We are grateful for Mike FM's support and welcome Entercom to the PMC team."

The Pan-Mass Challenge will celebrate its 30th ride this summer when more than 5,000 cyclists come from 36 states and 6 countries to ride one of the PMC's seven routes. The cyclists will be supported by 2,800 volunteers in 46 cities and towns through which PMC routes travel.

"For many years, our stations have been involved in the PMC in different ways. Becoming the exclusive radio sponsor for the event makes our PMC support official," says Bill Alfano, Director of Marketing for Entercom New England. "It is important for our stations to give back to the community. The PMC is among the most efficient organizations in the country, and helping PMC riders raise more money for cancer research by promoting their efforts is something our listeners will want to get behind."
