#Why I PMC guest blog by Michael Baird, 4-year volunteer

I volunteer because of two difficult losses in my life over the past five years.

My partner, Anne Sedlock, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in February of 2016. She was a Nurse Practitioner and received fabulous treatment at Dana-Faber Cancer Institute (Boston) until her passing in August of 2018. Anne and I volunteered, along with my daughter Nicole for the first-time parking bicycles at Mass Maritime in August of 2017.

This past summer, my mom Dianna Moore passed away from throat cancer. Mom had previously beaten this diagnosis two prior times. She also received fabulous care and treatment from DFCI (Weymouth).

Both Anne & my mom were such guiding and influential people in my life. They taught me so much about morals, ethics, right from wrong, caring, giving back, and taking care of one another.

Greeting, meeting, and chatting with the PMC riders as I continuing to volunteer for the PMC provides me some internal peace and comfort by giving back as both Anne & mom so inspirationally taught me to do during their lifetimes!

They are both painfully missed!
