The 32nd annual Pan-Massachusetts Challenge kicked off in Sturbridge and Wellesley this morning, as some 5,300 descended on the streets of Massachusetts. In Sturbridge, more than 2,700 riders left the Sturbridge Host Hotel at sunrise, led by PMC founder and Executive Director Billy Starr, 7 time Tour de France winner and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong, and Massachusetts Senators John Kerry and Scott Brown.

The PMC start

In Wellesley, more than 2,000 riders began their PMC journey and were cheered on by Red Sox player David Ortiz (whose wife Tiffany is riding) and Red Sox President and CEO Larry Lucchino. Today's route ends at Mass Maritime Academy in Bourne, with thousands of riders coming in all afternoon. Many will get up tomorrow and complete their two-day ride of 190 miles by biking to Provincetown. Much more to come!
