Mintz Shows Dedication to Cancer Research by Sponsoring the PMC

Published Date:   June 13, 2023

Topic:   Sponsor News, PMC 2023

Mintz Is the Medfield Water Stop Sponsor

Mintz is pleased to announce that it is an official sponsor of the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), a bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country. Mintz is a leading 600+ attorney law firm with deep experience in the life sciences industry.

The fully supported bike-a-thon donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as the Institute’s largest single contributor, supporting lifesaving cancer research, treatment and patient care.

While Mintz had previously fielded and sponsored a team of cyclists riding in the PMC, a preeminent cycling event in the United States, this is the inaugural year of Mintz’s official sponsorship of the PMC.

“Dana-Farber’s pioneering research and treatments have touched the lives of so many of us in the Massachusetts community, including several of us riding on Team Mintz. This is also a major event for the life sciences community in Massachusetts and New England, building personal connections and bridges across the biopharmaceutical industry, academic and clinical research institutions and the patients and families who benefit from their lifesaving treatments. Mintz is proud to become an official PMC sponsor and play our part in helping to raise much needed funds to continue the essential research and treatment that Dana-Farber provides,” said Adam Samansky, a member in Mintz’s Intellectual Property Section and captain of Mintz’s PMC team.

"On behalf of the entire PMC community, I am pleased to welcome Mintz as an official sponsor for PMC 2023,” said PMC President Jarrett Collins. “We are grateful for the support from Mintz’s PMC team as riders and dedicated fundraisers and are looking forward to welcoming them as a sponsor for the first time during Ride Weekend this August.”

Marking its 44th year, the PMC takes place on August 5 and 6 and will bring together thousands of riders, volunteers, donors and supporters to make an unparalleled impact in the fight against cancer. This year, the PMC community has a record-breaking fundraising goal of $70 million for Dana-Farber, which would bring its total contributions to the fight against cancer to $970 million since 1980. About the Pan-Mass Challenge

The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is a bikeathon that today raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the world. The PMC was founded in 1980 by Billy Starr, who remains the event’s executive director, an annual cyclist and a fundraiser. The PMC has since raised $900 million for adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. The event donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to the cause, generating more than 60 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue as Dana-Farber’s single largest contributor. The PMC has successfully melded support from committed cyclists, volunteers, corporate sponsors and individual contributors, all of which are essential to the PMC's goal and model: to attain maximum fundraising efficiency while increasing its annual gift. The PMC’s hope and aspiration is to provide Dana-Farber's doctors and researchers with the necessary resources to discover cures for all cancers.
