Published Date:   June 03, 2022

Topic:   Sponsor News, PMC 2022

The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is pleased to announce that Electra Beverages LLC – the owner of KAWAMA Tequila & Soda, a canned tequila soda – is a sponsor of this year’s ride. The PMC is the nation’s single most successful athletic fundraiser and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s (Dana-Farber) largest single contributor, raising more than $831 million in support of life-saving cancer research and treatment since 1980.

Electra Beverages will join the organization’s community of passionate cyclists, volunteers, and generous donors to support the shared goal of raising lifesaving funding for cancer research and treatment. KAWAMA Tequila & Soda will be available for PMC riders to enjoy at Mass Maritime Academy and the Provincetown Inn Finish.

PMC 2022 will take place on August 6 and 7, and include 16 routes – from 25 to 210 miles – bringing together more than 6,000 cyclists and 4,000 volunteers with a goal of raising $66 million for Dana-Farber. The PMC donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to Dana-Farber as the Institute’s largest single contributor, accounting for more than 55 percent of the annual revenue at The Jimmy Fund.

“Electra Beverages is incredibly proud to be a sponsor of the PMC and support the lifesaving treatment and research that is happening everyday thanks to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute,” said Lindsay Reed, Electra Beverages Co-Founder.

“We’re pleased to welcome KAWAMA into the PMC community as a sponsor for this year’s ride,” said Glynn Hawley, the PMC’s Director of Operations. “We’re grateful to have the support of the KAWAMA team as we head into our 43rd PMC this summer, with a goal of having an even greater impact in the fight against cancer.”

About the Pan-Mass Challenge

The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is an annual bike-a-thon that has raised more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the world. The PMC was founded in 1980 by Billy Starr, who remains the event’s executive director, an annual cyclist and a fundraiser. The PMC has since raised $831 million for adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. The event donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to the cause. The PMC generates more than 55 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue and is Dana-Farber’s single largest contributor. The PMC has successfully melded support from committed cyclists, volunteers, corporate sponsors and individual contributors. All are essential to the PMC's goal and model: to attain maximum fundraising efficiency while increasing its annual gift. The PMC’s hope and aspiration is to provide Dana-Farber's doctors and researchers with the necessary resources to discover cures for all cancers. About Electra Beverages LLC

Stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, Electra Beverages’ brother and sister co-founders, Kersey and Lindsay Reed, created KAWAMA Tequila & Soda. Frustrated with other canned cocktail options, Lindsay and Kersey decided they would strive to create the “go-to” tequila-in-a-can beverage. KAWAMA launched in Massachusetts in the summer of 2021 and has since grown its distribution channels across the Northeast US, available in stores from Maine to New Jersey. KAWAMA’s three award winning flavors bring together tequila lovers and haters alike with a light and refreshing real tequila beverage that is perfect for all occasions. As former college athletes, Lindsay and Kersey are excited to support the PMC, an athletic event that goes far beyond the sport. Lindsay played hockey at Harvard and is graduating this upcoming fall, and Kersey played lacrosse at St. Lawrence University (Class of 2016). For more information, please visit kawamausa.com.
