DripDrop is the Official Hydration Partner of the PMC

DripDrop Hydration, a leading rehydration therapy company, today announced a new corporate give-back partnership with the Pan-Mass Challenge.

dripdrop-1As its official hydration partner, DripDrop will provide more than 25,000 sticks of DripDrop ORS to more than 6,000 PMC cyclists during training and PMC ride weekend on August 7 and 8.

PMC 2021 riders – whether riding PMC weekend or participating as Reimagined Riders – will receive DripDrop in their rider kits pre-PMC weekend. DripDrop will also be available on PMC weekend.

“The effects of dehydration, particularly during strenuous physical activity in the heat can be devastating for cyclists,” said Dr. Eduardo Dolhun, MD and inventor of DripDrop ORS, a patented formula that improves on the World Health Organization (WHO) standard for an ORS with medical-grade electrolytes, making it both the ideal rehydration therapy for the general population and a mission-critical tool for athletes. “It’s imperative that PMC riders have access to more than just water. When they sweat, they lose key electrolytes like sodium and potassium. DripDrop helps replace those nutrients in a fast and effective manner so they can get back to sticking to their mission.”

“Safety is a paramount consideration for the PMC and DripDrop’s donation means we will be able to provide our riders with a highly effective solution for dehydration during PMC Ride Weekend,” said Glynn Hawley, Director of Provisions and Logistics for the PMC.

This partnership with the PMC expands on DripDrop’s past give-back programs, including product donations to more than 250 hospitals across the U.S. during the COVID-19 pandemic and donations to International Medical Corps’ emergency medical field units in COVID-19 hotspots. DripDrop has also provided more than 200,000 units of its ORS to the National Volunteer Firefighter Council (NVFC).

Since 1980, the PMC has raised $767 million for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as its largest single contributor, accounting for more than 64 percent of its Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue. The PMC donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to Dana-Farber in support of life-saving cancer research, treatment and care.

About the Pan-Mass Challenge

The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is a bike-a-thon that today raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the world. The PMC was founded in 1980 by Billy Starr, who remains the event’s executive director, an annual cyclist and a fundraiser. The PMC has since raised $767 million for adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. The event donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to the cause, generating 64 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue as Dana-Farber’s single largest contributor. The PMC has successfully melded support from committed cyclists, volunteers, corporate sponsors and individual contributors, all of which are essential to the PMC's goal and model: to attain maximum fundraising efficiency while increasing its annual gift. The PMC’s hope and aspiration is to provide Dana-Farber's doctors and researchers with the necessary resources to discover cures for all cancers.
