Dr. Lee Nadler's comments from 2013 PMC Check Presentation

Published Date:   November 07, 2013

Topic:   Press Releases

"Fifteen years ago, I had the honor of accepting the 1999 PMC check for $8.7 million.  That moment transformed me from a PMC observer to a committed member of Billy’s team. This August I completed my 14th PMC. So much has changed over the past 14 years, stunning advances have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, this years PMC check is $30 million greater the 1999 check, and who would have believed that the Red Sox would have just won their 3rd World Series.

Two things have not changed. First, the impact of the PMC on patients and their families giving them the hope and courage that they can become survivors. Second, the transformative impact that the PMC has on each of us. We all ride the PMC not as individuals but as an army committed to help everyone who is presently fighting, has fought, or someday will fight the battle against cancer. We ride to demonstrate to ourselves and to the world that there are good people who are willing to selflessly give of themselves without attribution. Finally, we ride because the training, the fundraising, the ride, and its aftermath bring us together as friends who over the years become a family.  Today is about you and your accomplishments and I am so proud to be a member of your family. I hope to be able to ride at least 14 more PMCs and celebrate my 80th birthday on the road with you. "
