The Pan-Mass Challenge is closely monitoring COVID-19 updates and public health information from leaders in infectious diseases.

The PMC is considering every factor that could impact the quality and safety of PMC weekend (August 1 and 2, 2020) and will continue to share updates with riders, volunteers, and the entire PMC community on a regular basis.

  • Dana-Farber Thanks the PMC for $4 Million Gift to Emergency Response Fund (May 2, 2020)
    Dr. Laurie Glimcher thanks the PMC Community for the PMC's $4 million gift to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

  • Important Event Update for PMC 2020 (May 1, 2020)
    A message to PMC riders from Billy Starr about PMC 2020 Reimagined. "Health considerations surrounding COVID-19 make it impossible to deliver the PMC's high-quality experience while guaranteeing the safety of our riders, volunteers and first responders. We are left with no responsible choice but to reimagine the PMC 2020 weekend," Starr wrote.
  • PMC Reimagines 2020 Ride (May 1, 2020)
    The PMC is adapting its 2020 ride to maintain its commitment to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute while prioritizing the health and safety of its riders and volunteers. The “Reimagined PMC” will bring together thousands of riders, volunteers, donors and supporters from their hometowns around the globe to celebrate the spirit of PMC weekend while making an unparalleled impact on the fight against cancer.
  • A Thank You and Update from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (April 21, 2020)
    Dr. Laurie Glimcher wrote a thank you note to Billy Starr and the PMC community for their support of the Institute's Emergency Response Fund. DFCI leadership also briefed some of their top supporters on how their lifesaving work perseveres during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • PMC to Raise and Release $4 Million by May 1 for Dana-Farber's Most Urgent Needs (April 9, 2020)
    The PMC has committed to raise and release $4 million of unrestricted giving to Dana-Farber’s newly established Emergency Response Fund by May 1. Once PMC riders raise $3 million, a generous matching gift of $1 million will be contributed by a PMC rider and donor.

    PMC Founder and Executive Director Billy Starr shared three possible options for PMC 2020 that the PMC staff are currently considering.

How You Can Help – Emergency Response Fund

Cancer patients need our help, now more than ever.

The Pan-Mass Challenge is committed to giving $4 million of its unrestricted funds by May 1 to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Emergency Response Fund. Read the full announcement from PMC Founder and Executive Director Billy Starr here.

If you know a PMC rider, click Donate to a Rider to support their fundraising. If you do not know a rider and would like to support the PMC's fundraising for Dana-Farber, click Donate to the General Fund.

The Emergency Response Fund will support: 

  • Unanticipated additional costs to keep cancer patients safe and prevent infection as they receive lifesaving treatments;
  • New expenses for telemedicine technology that allows patients and families to visit with their Dana-Farber care team virtually;
  • Pressing financial strains felt by patients and caregivers who lose employment or experience disruptions in dependent care due to school and other closures;
  • Flexible funding for research and care due to the cancellation or postponement of hundreds of spring fundraising events benefitting Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund; and
  • Obtaining additional personal protective equipment and supplies to keep staff and patients safe.

    All of the blood and platelets collected at the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center and on the Blood Mobile benefit patients at Dana-Farber and Brigham and Women's Hospital.
