#WhyIPMC guest blog by Steve Plumb, 2-year rider, Team Perry

It was 2022, and I was at Fenway and it just happened to be PMC night.  I was choking back tears as I watched fromPXL_20220902_203955559_exported_1364_1672353749200 the stands as the riders circled the park.  My wife Shelly had been diagnosed 2 months earlier with stage 3 colon cancer and was a patient at Dana-Farber.  I said to myself that I finally found my cause to support!  I signed up for the PMC Winter Cycle as my wife was preparing for surgery in November of 2022.  Following the successful surgery, we received the fantastic news that she was cancer free.  I loved the Winter Cycle so much that I committed to the 186 mile 2023 ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown.  As I was back in the stands for PMC night in 2023, this time I was again choking back tears, watching my wife, now Living Proof, riding her bike around Fenway Park.  During my inaugural PMC ride last summer, I committed to myself that I will be riding every year as long as I am physically able. I truly believe that my wife would not be here today without all of the PMC riders and volunteers that came before us, to contribute to Dana-Farber's success.2023 PMC Winter Cycle 3559
I am a PMC rider for life!  Please donate what you can to help me reach my goal of $10,000 in 2024.  100% of rider-raised dollars go directly to support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.2023 PMC Finish PXL_20230806_165804773Fenway - 2023-07-07 PMC Day0205
