#WhyIPMC guest blog by Katie Litchfield, 9-year volunteer

The PMC has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. My dad started riding in the PMC when I was 4 years old, and from that point on, springtime marked the start of training season, and when August rolled around it was PMC month in our family. My dad's father, my Papa, passed away from colon cancer just a year before I was born. The prognosis was quick and he was gone much too soon, in only a matter of months. This sparked my dad's undivided commitment, dedication, and passion towards a 20+ year long PMC journey.PMCPicture1

My involvement with the PMC became more pronounced when I was old enough to volunteer. I volunteered for my dad's team, Team Eradicate, helping with the logistics and setup of their overnight stay in Bourne. Those first few years I also volunteered for the PMC organization onsite in Bourne. This year will mark my 9th year as a volunteer where I'll be helping with site setup in Wellesley alongside my mom. Although last summer marked my dad's final and 20th PMC ride, I know that my family and I will continue dedicating our time to support this incredible organization that takes part in the fight against cancer and makes a difference in so many lives.PMCPicture2
