Team NECN - behind the camera and on the bike

Published Date:   June 02, 2010

Topic:   PMC News

We recognize many members of Team NECN because they are reporters, meteorologists, and show hosts we see on TV. But on PMC weekend, they are all cyclists wearing helmets and matching PMC jerseys raising money for a vital cause: supporting cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Like so many PMC supporters, NECN is more than just the event's year-long media sponsor. NECN has been the PMC's media sponsor since 1999. NECN produces the PMC Opening Ceremony, provides live media coverage throughout PMC weekend, and highlights our riders' stories throughout the season. Team NECN is also getting on their bikes this summer. Thirteen NECN employees are part of the team and will join the 5,000 other PMC cyclists on Aug. 7 and 8.  Team NECN is led by David Lawson, vice president/business manager and 10-year PMC veteran. He'll bike the 190 mile route from Sturbridge to Provincetown "in memory of my parents, friends and relatives who battled this awful disease," he writes on Team NECN's blog. "It is a great feeling to be part of a community dedicated to fight and ultimately end cancer," Lawson writes.
