Things can get crowded as thousands of cyclists arrive at the Mass Maritime Academy Saturday afternoon ending the first day of the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge. Add to that hundreds of volunteers, family, friends and Cape Cod traffic, it can be a tricky situation. To make things as smooth as possible, the following rules are in place at MMA in Bourne this weekend:
No Guest vehicle traffic will be allowed on Academy Drive, or anywhere in the Taylor Point community which surrounds Academy Drive. Guests are invited to park 1/4 mile from the finish in PMC designated parking lots and take a PMC Shuttle to the Finish Line. Bikes that belong to riders who are being picked up in Bourne will be transported from the finish area to the Bike Pickup Area in the PMC designated parking lot at the former Buzzards Bay Theater. Riders will take a PMC Shuttle to the Buzzards Bay Theater or to the Liberty Liquors parking lot, where they can meet with those who are picking them up. One-Day Riders returning via bus to Wellesley or Sturbridge will place bikes directly onto trucks at the finish line. Two-Day Riders will place bikes in the Overnight Bike Racks located on the baseball field, entering through the gates along the first baseline.
