Before the turkey and winter holiday season begins, comes another anticipated get-together that is special for members of the PMC family, the PMC Check Presentation Party.

It’s the event that makes every training ride in the rain, every email blast, Facebook update and afternoon at the family barbeque talking about the PMC - worth it. A celebration where 600 riders, volunteers and supporters revile in the reveal of how many millions of dollars they all helped to raise for their favorite cause.

This year, that number was a goal beating and record setting $39,000,000.

As Legal Harborside staff fit in with the crowd, sporting PMC t-shirts and passing out mimosas and mini crab cakes, big hellos, hugs and kisses where exchanged in every corner and floor of the South Boston restaurant, congratulating each other for their part in a very successful PMC season.

Legal Harborside dedicated the entire restaurant to the PMC for the celebration. While gazing out of the floor-to-ceiling windows onto a glistening harbor, guests enjoyed raw bar, sushi, hot passed hors d’oeuvres, chowder, morning cocktails, coffee and dessert.

“The event was a beautiful end to an impactful PMC year,” said PMC Founder and Executive Director, Billy Starr. “Everyone involved in the PMC’s year-round campaign should feel good about their efforts. Everyone who is part of the PMC team helps us reach, or this year, exceed our fundraising goal.”

Special guests and speakers included New Balance President and CEO, Rob DeMartini, who has ridden in the PMC for seven years, and Dr. Lee Nadler, a 14-year rider and Senior Vice President, Experimental Medicine at Dana-Farber. Dana-Farber President, Edward J. Benz, Jr., MD made a surprise appearance at the event on his way to the airport.

“I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be with all of you this morning and offer my deepest appreciation” Dr. Benz said to the crowd. “You are all amazing.”

For the remainder of the morning, riders and volunteers gathered with teammates and loved ones to be photographed the event’s biggest star, a copy of the giant $39 million check.

The PMC donates 100 percent of every rider raised dollar to Dana-Faber Cancer Institutue.
