(official press release)

BOSTON, January 25, 2017 – The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is pleased to announce that Breakaway, a Boston-based brand capital firm, will serve as a lead sponsor of The Resolution by PMC. The indoor bike-a-thon is an expansion of the PMC and contributes to the organization’s annual fundraising to support the world-renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The first Resolution event of 2017 is taking place on January 27 and 28 at EverybodyFights in Boston, MA.

“In recent years, the PMC has experienced exponential growth. We continue to seek out alternative sweat equity events to meet the needs of all who want to fundraise for cancer research and be a part of this powerful fundraising phenomenon,” says Billy Starr, PMC founder and executive director. “As a lead sponsor, Breakaway is contributing more than $100,000 in cash and services, and is partnering with The Resolution by PMC to enhance and amplify this annual event as part of a year-long strategic commitment that focuses on the role of technology, expanding into new markets, and driving participation.”

“Breakaway is proud to participate as a lead sponsor for The Resolution by PMC. Not only is this cause, and this organization, close to many of our hearts, but the PMC is truly an innovator in the non-profit industry,” says Dennis Baldwin, CEO of Breakaway. “Our company has a significant focus on the fitness, health and wellness spaces from both an investment and marketing services standpoint, and we believe that our experience makes us a strong partner to drive growth and the continued success for the PMC.”

Participants from Boston and beyond will come together to raise funds to support adult and pediatric patient care and research at Dana-Farber. Many cyclists will ride in honor of a family member or friend lost to, or being treated for, cancer, and 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar will go directly to the cause. All participants are committed to raising at least $250.

About The Resolution by PMC

The Resolution by PMC is an indoor cycling event that allows participants to channel physical, mental and emotional energy to fight cancer. As a spoke in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) wheel, 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar goes directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Dana-Farber). Founded in 1980, the PMC is an annual bike-a-thon that today raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country. The PMC has since raised $547 million for adult and pediatric cancer care and research. The Resolution intends to continue the PMC model of efficiency while simultaneously increasing the level of participation. The Resolution by PMC offers athletes another opportunity to commit to the cause and the fight against cancer. In 2017, The Resolution by PMC events will be held in Boston in January and in the San Francisco area in April. For more information on The Resolution by PMC, visit Resolution.PMC.org.
