Team PHAT Tuesday put out the call to its riders: give us your old Pan-Massachusetts Challenge t-shirts, shorts and bike jerseys. Patricia Middelmann, wife of PHAT Tuesday cyclist Marty Middelmann, came up with the idea to make a quilt as the couple was deciding ways they could fundraise this season. Patricia wanted to put her new quilt making skills to good use: she had been taking classes at a local shop. With the help of her teacher, Cathy Bodio of Emma's Quilt Cupboard, in Franklin, Mass., Patricia got to work putting together an original quilt made up for all PMC materials. Last March, after about three months of working with shirts donated from team members, the quilt was unveiled at PHAT Tuesday's "10th-year Kick-Off PHUNdraiser." "I was sewing until about two hours before the event," Patricia said.

"A lot of hard work and joy in the process has gone into making this quilt," Patricia said. "It has been a labor of love and it is the least I can do to help raise money to help eradicate this dreadful disease." You can take home this one-of-a-kind cotton quilt. It measures 60 inches by 67 inches. It could be used on a twin bed, wall hanging or lap quilt. It was machine pieced and long-arm quilted. Raffle tickets to win the quilt are on sale now and will also be sold at PMC Opening Ceremony in Sturbridge and at the conclusion of the day one of the ride in Bourne. The winner will be drawn on Aug. 10 at the weekly PHAT Tuesday team ride. For tickets and more information click here.
