The Monday after the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge is a day of recovery, relaxation and reflection. Thank you to the 5,100 cyclists, 3,100 volunteers, hundreds of sponsors, and head staff for putting together another memorable PMC weekend.
The 2010 PMC start in Wellesley
Here's a recap of some of the many stories within this year's ride that make the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge a one-of-a-kind event. Both the Boston Globe and Boston Herald featured PMC stories and photos throughout the weekend. Making headlines were Sens. Scott Brown and John Kerry whose dedication to fighting cancer surpassed the political differences between the two. More on Kerry and Brown here, here, and here. The PMC made the front page of today's Cape Cod Times. On television this weekend, the PMC could be seen on NECN, WBZ , WHDH, FOX and WCVB. NECN, as the PMC's media sponsor, not only produced the kick off show, but also had camera crews and reporters in Wellesley, Lakeville, Bourne, and Provincetown and filed live reports throughout the weekend. A front page Providence Journal article highlighted the Starring family of Barrington, R.I., who formed Matt's Booyah All Stars in memory of Matthew Starring, a 22-year-old PMCer who died of leukemia in 2009. The Patriot Ledger featured a story on first time rider and cancer survivor Cori Newcomb of Raynham. The Worcester Telegram & Gazette was there to cover the start of the PMC in Sturbridge on Saturday morning.
