The farmers and family from Wilson Farm in Lexington, Mass., will trade in plowing for pedaling during the first weekend in August this year. Members of Team Wilson Farm will cycle in their first Pan-Massachusetts Challenge to honor the memory of Alan Wilson, who lost his life to colon cancer in 2008. Alan Wilson was the family patriarch and co-owner and operator of the Lexington landmark. The farm has been in operation by three generations of the Wilson family for 125 years. Affectionately known as Big Al and Smiley, Alan Wilson was a husband, father and well respected community member, donating generously to local causes and charities. Al is remembered as a "tough as nails" straight shooter who never backed down from a challenge. Team Wilson Farm will evoke this mantra as they cycle in his memory. The team has 11 members made up of family, friends and employees. Lauren Wilson, team member and third generation Wilson farmer, says the outpouring of support they have gotten from the community is amazing.

Members of Team Wilson Farm are: Jenn Wilson, Anita Paton, Scott Wilson, Charlie Silva, Tony Casieri, Lauren Wilson, Lesley Wilson, Brenda Marti, Jeffrey McDonough, Quentin Falconer, and David Shapiro. Team Wilson Farm PMC 2010 hats are available for purchase at Wilson Farm in Lexington as a fundraiser for the Pan-Mass Challenge. Team Wilson Farm hopes to raise $50,000. To boost the team's fundraising, the farm is running monthly raffles for gift certificates to the store and later this month, will host a three-course candle lit dinner in the fields.
