As the co-presenting sponsor of the PMC, the Boston Red Sox have dedicated more than $2 million to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and its Jimmy Fund. The team's support of the PMC is unique in Major League Baseball, as no other team supports a single event with such a large financial commitment. Each year since 2003, when the team first became the PMC's presenting sponsor, the Boston Red Sox have opened Fenway Park to the PMC family by hosting special nights and private events for PMC riders and volunteers.
For nearly three weeks during the 2010 season, the PMC logo was proudly displayed next to the Jimmy Fund logo on the Green Monster to celebrate the PMC's 31st year and more than 56 years of Jimmy Fund support by the Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox Team 9 goes the distance
In addition to the management's financial support, players, managers and their families have rallied behind the event emotionally and physically by riding in the PMC as Team 9, which was named to honor the late Ted Williams who was a life-long champion for the Jimmy Fund. Team 9 is now over 45 members strong.
