Dana-Farber's Vision for the Future of Cancer Care: An Update on the Future Cancer Hospital
Last month, the city of Boston approved the designs for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's new 300-bed inpatient cancer hospital, paving the way for the construction of the region's only freestanding inpatient cancer hospital.
The building will be supported by a clinical collaboration among Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at BIDMC (HMFP). The joint clinical teams anticipate welcoming the first oncology patients in 2031.

"This is the right time to build a cancer hospital because cancer is becoming much more common. It's affecting younger and younger patients, and we need the capacity to take care of those patients. It's also a time of transformation for cancer care, and we need to have the optimal facilities to take care of those patients."
– Dr. Benjamin L. Ebert, President and CEO of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute & 7-year PMC rider
160+
More than 160 Dana-Farber Cancer Institute staff members are riding and/or volunteering for PMC 2025, supporting cancer research and treatment both at work and on the road.
"As a Dana-Farber physician and researcher myself, I cannot express how vital these funds are to helping us to develop innovative new therapies for patients around the world and to deliver those therapies with expertise and compassion here at Dana-Farber in Boston. Each year, riding in the PMC inspires me to work even harder to develop better cancer treatments, and the funding you provide is essential to our ability to do just that."

Look for Dana-Farber's Mammography Van
Dana-Farber's mammography van is the only mobile digital mammography program in Massachusetts, and an integral part of Dana-Farber's efforts to increase access to screening and breast health education in Boston's medically underserved neighborhoods. With PMC support, the mammography van has provided more than 44,000 mammograms to more than 19,000 patients and detected 138 cases of breast cancer since 2002.
The van is out in the community three days per week, providing breast cancer screenings and educational services, and providing up to 25 appointments per day. Find where the mammography van will be next!
