I ride in the PMC because cancer continues to show up in my life in ways I never expect. I’ve been riding since 2021, and each year it feels like more of my family, friends, and loved ones are affected by this disease. What began as a ride in honor of my Aunty Lynn has grown into something deeply personal and ongoing. She passed away in 2014 after more than 15 years of fighting cancer with incredible grace and determination. She never let it take away her humor, her strength, or the way she showed up for the people she loved. Even on the hardest days, she chose to find joy and meaning. I carry her with me on every training ride and every mile in August.
I ride for her, my Dad, my birth mother, uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents, and dear friends. The PMC gives me a way to turn loss and worry into action. It reminds me that this is bigger than any one rider. It is about showing up for the people we love and contributing to the life saving research and care at Dana-Farber. That is why I keep coming back to ride, and why this mission matters so much to me.
