For eight years, he rode to honor his mother, a cancer survivor. Now for a second year, Rob Goodman will propel forward and ride in his 10th Pan-Massachusetts Challenge in his mother's memory. Joyce Goodman fought breast cancer 15 years ago and won. Then in 2007, cancer returned to her body, this time as a rare form of uterine cancer. Even while receiving treatment, Joyce traveled to Massachusetts to support her son's ride in the PMC. Ever the family matriarch, she continued to enjoy precious moments with her children and grandchildren. On Mother's Day, 2009, Joyce lost her battle to cancer. She would have been 72. Even after losing his mother to cancer, Goodman pledges to continue to ride in the PMC in her memory. "This is all about her," said Goodman. "I hit those hills and I feel selfish for feeling tired because I think about what she went through and it gives me an extra bit of adrenaline."

During the past nine years Goodman has raised more than $205,000 for the PMC. His goal is to raise another $35,000 for his 2010 ride.
