Why I Ride ...
Dear Friends, Family and random people who land on this page!
As some of you have heard, I have signed up for the Pan Mass Challenge. On August 1st and 2nd, the PMC Weekend, me and many other cyclists will be riding 163 miles (262 km) across parts of Massachusetts (Wellesley to Provincetown). Many of you know how much I love wearing spandex! This is a rough approximation of the route: http://bit.ly/kXnqe
Over the last 30 years, tens of thousands of people have ridden across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the PMC with one goal in mind - financing cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. Together, PMC cyclists have raised more than $239 million, crucial funds that have improved the lives of cancer patients and their loved ones around the globe.
This will be my first year doing the PMC. I will be riding with one of my closest friends, Jonathan Tushman, who did it last year and asked me to ride with him this year. I have committed to raising $4,200 by August (just under $900 to go!). I would be honored if you could help me achieve this goal by donating online with the donate here button. Times are tough right now for a lot of us. However, no donation is too small. Charities like these need our support even more now.
Cancer is something that has affected all of us one way or another. From the time I registered for this event earlier this year till now, a new member to my family has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This stark reality has given this years ride a whole new meaning for me.
Please join me in being part of the cure.
I would be blessed to hear about any people in your lives impacted by cancer and they will be in my heart, body and mind as I ride for a cure.
