Sponsor Me in the PMC
This photo of my 21-year-old son Dan and me was taken at the 2011 Newton-Needham-Brookline PMC Kids Ride. Dan did his first 196-mile PMC (Sturbridge to Ptown) as a 15-year-old and two
more until age 17. Since then, we've not been able to do the PMC together. But we always make it for the Kids PMC; the ride has special meaning for both of us. This year we took a group of nine 8- to 10-year-olds on an 8-mile ride. We knew we'd done well when they all asked at the end: "Can we do it again?" "Sure," we said, "next year."
PMC 2011 marks an important, personal milestone for me...10 years as a PMC rider. When I did my first PMC in 2002, I didn't really think about it as a lifelong commitment. Since that first August morning and every Day 1 since, I've been overwhelmed by the thousands of riders at the Sturbridge start and the tens of thousands of personal stories they represent. I've been equally awed, inspired, and humbled by the number of riders, volunteers, and everyday people who lined the 196-mile route by the hundreds of thousands the past nine years. So here I am, surrounded by family and friends who love and support me in so many ways with a singular goal ...to rid the world of cancer.
Cancer doesn’t rest. Since 2005 I've ridden with Team Kermit, co-founded with my dear friends Steven, Ellen, and Adam Branfman, and a few others. We ride in memory of my loving friend & artist Jared Branfman who died from brain cancer at 23. I get asked a few questions every year; here are the answers:
Thanks for all your love and support,
Tim

Cancer doesn’t rest. Since 2005 I've ridden with Team Kermit, co-founded with my dear friends Steven, Ellen, and Adam Branfman, and a few others. We ride in memory of my loving friend & artist Jared Branfman who died from brain cancer at 23. I get asked a few questions every year; here are the answers:
- Why Kermit? He was Jared's favorite childhood Sesame Street character.
- Why pink? Pink was Jared's favorite color.
- Why sunflowers? Sunflowers are the signature flower of the Tour de France, the epic bike race that happens every summer. Jared knew more about the Tour than anyone I've ever met.
- Why the Kermit beanies? Initially, just so we could spot each other among the 1,000s of riders. Now, they bring us together as a team.
- Where does my contribution go? 100% of every dollar you donate goes to the Jared Branfman Sunflowers for Life Fund at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
- Who manages the fund's research? Mark Kieran, Director, Pediatric Medical Neuro-Oncology at DFCI.
- Click the DONATE TO MY RIDE button and follow the steps.
OR - Send a check payable to the "Dana Farber Cancer Institute / PMC" and mail it to me at 12 Randolph Street, Newton, MA 02461.
Thanks for all your love and support,
Tim
