Why I Ride ...
Welcome to Team New Beginnings. My name is Patty Leavenworth and this will be my third year riding in the PMC. I started riding in the PMC to honor the memory of my Mom who lost her battle with pancreatic cancer in 2006. Through this experience, I learned how important it is for folks who are touched by cancer to have HOPE. Hope for a cure, hope for a treatment that will delay progression, hope for new medications to ease the affects of chemo and radiation, and sometimes, just hope that tomorrow, they will feel better than today.
My Mom was very brave and I watched her lift her chin, everyday she suffered, in defiance of her disease and grasp on tight to whatever hope she could find. After she passed, I wanted to find a way to create hope for others and that is also why I ride.
This year I am thrilled to tell you that I now have a team. I am riding with my two brothers, Ralph and Michael Romano. I can't tell you how happy my Mom must be knowing that the three of us are riding this year.
