Why I Ride ...
Founded by Av Hammer, Sam Zoll, Bill Cantor and Sheldon Brown 35 years ago, the North Shore Cyclopaths have since grown to over 45 riders, most of them past and present PMC riders.
In 1984, after completing a century ride to Maine, PMC rider Brenda White challenged the four to do "a real ride" -- the PMC! Since then, the North Shore Cyclopaths have been involved in the Pan Mass Challenge and The Jimmy Fund annually. The group has grown considerably in recent years, with the four founding Cyclopaths still riding. This year, over 30 Cyclopaths, (riders and volunteers), will participate in the PMC .
With riders of varying speeds, (most riding at a social pace), and mileage determined by our breakfast destination, we are often accused of being a "breakfast club" more than a cycling club. (We don't mind!) We may not be the fastest cycling group out there, but with a great sense of humor and a good breakfast, we definitely laugh the most.
