This will be my 16^th Pan Mass Challenge, my 16^th year fundraising for the fight against cancer…

Every year when I write this letter, I think of all the people I know, or have known, who’ve been touched by cancer. I’m guessing your list is as long and heart-breaking as mine.

Last year, I told you about Susan’s brother, Peter, and our dear friend, Jude, who both learned they had end-stage cancer. They passed away a short time after being diagnosed; both surrounded by love and with as much dignity as cancer allows. Peter and Jude are amazing people who touch countless lives in unique and remarkable ways - "I put that sentence in the present tense because so many people still think of them, miss them, and feel their influence every day. And that’s true of every single person we lose to cancer.

Which is why we have to keep pushing this disease back. We have to fund research, support care-givers, and carry the hope that someday cancer will no longer be part of our lives.     

For Jude and Peter, for everyone I’ve ridden for over the past 16 years, for all the loved ones we want to keep healthy, I keep riding.

I hope I can count on your support. As hard as it is to believe sometimes, we are making a difference.
