Tammy Bourque's Ride

Let me tell you why I ride the PMC......

I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.

Cancer, such an ugly word. There really is no way to beautify it, so my choice is to try to eliminate it all together. I am Honored to be riding once again for the team Pedals for Pediatrics in memory of Ms. Maddie Savoie and Ms. Meghan Duffy.  Both little girls lost their battle to cancer way to young.

My family, also, has been effected way too much by this ugly word. This years ride I dedicate once again to my Uncle Mel. Mel was a big supporter of my first ride in 2010. Mel lost his battle on December 8, 2010.  " Miles Extend Lives" is all for you Mel. I love and miss you very much, and I know you will guide me once again to the finish line!

Cancer has no boundaries. Cancer does not care if you are male or female, black or white, young or old, rich or poor, it doesn't matter.  Cancer can happen to anyone, at any point in your lifetime.  Well, I personally have had enough. I am sick of the sadness that cancer brings.  So I have decided to ride the PMC once again!

The PMC is most certainly a physical challenge for me, as I found out the last two years. Allot of Time, Sweat, and Tears goes into preparing for the ride, But I say, Bring it on!!!!  With the support of my family and friends this is a challenge that I most certainly, once again, WILL complete!  What is going to get me through this ride? All the wonderful memories I have of all our loved ones who lost their battles with cancer, most especially;

 My Uncle Mel Ryan, My Grandmothers, Priscilla Bachelder, and Rita Marso, my aunt Priscilla Jordan, my uncle Ike Neitring,  Scott's Grandmother Dorothy Bourque,and his aunt Carol Grondine, and the following friends;
Agnes Ostrander, Dick D'Amico, Boe Barkhouse, Gail Seaholm, Jennifer Ballarino, Edith Asquith, Maddie Savoie, Meghan Duffy, Carol Armstrong, Phillis Masi, Erika Canales and sadley I add Pam Turinese, as she lost her battle with Cancer in July 2010.

I will also be riding in HONOR of my beautiful, strong Mother, Jean Bachelder, my aunt Diane Gedney, my mother in law Bonnie Bourque, my friends, Millie DeGrazia,  Kelly Walker, Corinne Brooke and Phil Barrett. I would also like to add our teams  "Pedal Partner" Samantha Bourque. Samantha is a young Beautiful ladie who I had the honor to meet last year at one of our water stops during the 2011 PMC ride. Samantha continues to fight her battle every day, I ride and pray for you always.

All of these wonderful people will help keep me moving all the way to the Cape!!! My ride is for anyone Past, Present, or Future who has or will ever hear the words "It's Cancer."  Please help me in raising my goal of $3,100. Donations of any amount are welcome.We can all make a difference!

Love and Thanks,

Tammy
