Tammy Bourque's Ride
This is why I'm riding.....
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
Cancer, such an ugly word. There really is no way to beautify it, so my choice is to try to eliminate it all together. I am Honored to be riding for the team Pedals for Pediatrics in memory of Ms. Maddie Savoie and Ms. Meghan Duffy. Both little girls lost their battle to cancer way to young.
My family, also, has been effected way too much by this ugly word. We have lost too many loved ones over the years and have felt too much heartache. I feel the need to try my hardest to help out in any way I can. In all of our lives we are able to make many choices. Sadly, having cancer or not, is not one of them.
Cancer has no boundaries. Cancer does not care if you are male or female, black or white, young or old, rich or poor, it doesn't matter. Cancer can happen to anyone, at any point in your lifetime. Well, I personally have had enough. I am sick of the sadness that cancer brings. I am a do'er, so I have decided to do the PMC!!!
This ride will most certainly be a physical challenge for me no doubt, but it's one that I welcome with open arms! With the support of my friends and family this is a challenge that I most certainly will complete! What is going to get me through this ride? All the wonderful memories I have of all our loved ones who lost their battles with cancer, most especially;
My Grandmothers, Priscilla Bachelder, and Rita Marso, my aunt Priscilla Jordan, my uncle Ike Neitring, and the following friends;
Agnes Ostrander, Dick D'Amico, Boe Barkhouse, Gail Seaholm, Jennifer Ballarino, Edith Asquith, Maddie Savoie, and Meghan Duffy.
I will also be riding in HONOR of my beautiful, strong Mother, Jean Bachelder, my aunt Diane Gedney, my mother in law Bonnie Bourque, my friends, Millie DeGrazia, Kelly Walker, and Corinne Brooke.
All of these wonderful people will help keep me moving all the way to the Cape!!! My ride is for anyone Past, Present, or Future who has or will ever hear the words "It's Cancer." Please help me in raising my goal of $3,000. Donations of any amount are welcome.We can all make a difference!
