Team Brielle's Brigade's Ride

Why We Ride...

In 2006, Team Brielle’s Brigade was formed with a single purpose" to help find a cure for cancer  by participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge and cycling nearly 300 miles across Massachusetts each year in early August.   Since that first year, more than 30 riders have proudly worn our colors, and been supported by family, friends and local business partners who share in this purpose.  Together, we have raised more than $600,000 to benefit cancer research and treatment for The Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

So, why do we do this?  Unfortunately, each of us has our own personal stories of loved ones affected by cancer.  But, the person that unifies us all is our team namesake, Brielle.  Brielle has valiantly been fighting cancer for the last 8 years. With the help of her sister Jaclyn and many others, she successfully beat Leukemia twice. Last year, on the eve of our 6th ride, we found out the cancer had returned in the form of Osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, which had also spread to her lungs.

At that point, Brielle and her family turned to the great doctors at The Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Through her passion for life and her amazing spirit, Brielle is “Not Afraid”  to triumph over cancer yet again.  Brielle and her family are an inspiration to all of us.

2012 will be our team’s 7th PMC and we come together again in honor and memory of many loved ones who, are battling or have battled the disease. This year, our goal is to reach  $750,000 in fundraising for the PMC. Please read on for more details on the Pan-Mass Challenge, our team and how you too can help.
