Team Avanti's Ride
Why I Ride ...
On August 5-6, 2011, Team Avanti rides the PMC for the 6th time! John Marchiony, Rob Rodgers, and Joe Parrish are saddling up!
We are joining about 5,000 other rider to ride 163 miles over two days from Wellesley to Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod, stopping overnight in Bourne.
PMC riders will surely raise more than the $33 million we raised in 2010. Most importantly, 100% of the funds raised by the riders go directly to fund research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute to eradicate cancer. This is HUGE, as most excellent, efficient fundraising efforts yield 60-90% to support the cause.
As important, are our personal connections and motivations. We all have been touched by cancer. John's mother Eve and her best friend Helga both lost battles. Rob Rodgers' dear friend Ev succumbed to cancer. Joe Parrish's rides in memory of his mother, Agi. With the help of caring and gifted oncologists, we got to be with our loved ones for years longer than we could have reasonably expected. We will be riding to honor them. We will be riding to support those who are still fighting bravely.
We will carry their names as we ride. We would be honored to carry the names of your loved ones also. Please send us an email to share their names and stories.
Please join Team Avanti in supporting the great and important work of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute by sponsoring us as generously as you can.
