Why We Ride ...
Our team rides to support the search for a cure for ASPS and in honor of Ynbal Landesman, a 20 year old friend / sister who was diagnosed in 2003 with Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (ASPS). ASPS does not respond to traditional treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation. Thanks to the funds that were raised by Team ASPS (total of 201,711 dollars over 6 years: PMC 2004 - PMC 2009), the first clinical trial for ASPS at the Dana Farber was started in January 2006. Currently doctors and researchers at the Dana Farber are pursuing additional research programs to identify other types of therapies that might be tailored to fight ASPS.
