Why I Ride ...
On August 6th and 7th, I will be participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) along with thousands of others, both riders and volunteers, all dedicated to raising funds for cancer care and research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This will be my fourth year cycling in the event, and my second time starting from Wellesley for the 163 mile ride to Provincetown. As a nurse in orthopaedic oncology at Children's Hospital Boston, I feel deeply committed to our pediatric patients and their families whose lives have been touched by cancer. The strength and courage they all demonstrate is inspirational, and I find it personally gratifying to care for each and every one of them.
In the PMC, I will be riding with the Pedals for Pediatrics team, a group of more than 60 riders whose fundraising directly benefits pediatric oncology services (program funding and direct financial assistance) and research at the Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Care.
