Scot Parnell's Ride
Why I Ride ...
I ride with TeamBrentWheels. Six years ago I started riding to show our family's support for a dear boy who was fighting stage IV neuroblastoma. He thankfully recovered. For a while after that I rode for to raise money and awareness to help others who were in the same situation.
Over the past few years, cancer has been ever present in people that I deeply care for. My wife lost an aunt, my mother is fighting a recurrance of pancreatic cancer, I and others have had cancer scares, and many freinds and coworkers are also dealing with the disease people close to them.
While every occurance of the disease is unique and requires individual care, research on solutions in one type of cancer benefits other fiorms. This is because treatments, medicines, and ideas can often be transferred to benefit other forms. I like supporting Neuroblastoma because it is a form that affects children and a very small amount of cancer money goes to fight children's forms.
The Dana Farber Institute continues to be one of the leading centers of treatment and research leading the charge. Our donations make a difference in individual's lives and in the broader community. This is what I think about every time I get on my bike. This is why I ride.
