This year, I will be riding in memory of Lauren E. Costa, a nine year old third grade student at the Chace Street Elementary School in Somerset, MA,  who passed away on December 25, 2011, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.  Lauren enjoyed crafts, making perler beads, coloring and camping with her family. She loved going to school and cherished the time she shared with her teachers and classmates.  Lauren will be sorrowfully missed by my co-worker and Lauren's mother, Lisa Costa, as well as Lauren's father, Michael, her sister, Aubrey and so many others.  

I will also be riding in memory of my longtime friend, law partner and fellow cyclist Tom Federico, who was also taken by brain cancer in June of 2010 and in support of my dear sister-in-law, Emily Woodward Macy, who continues her brave battle with cancer.  Tom passed away at the age of 52, after a hard and brave fight with cancer, leaving behind a loving wife, three devoted children and scores of friends in the legal community who admired and respected him.  Emily’s courageous battle with cancer continues through her irrepressible spirit, strong faith and the tireless support of her husband, three boys, extended family and her many friends.

I ask that you please join me in the fight against cancer, in memory of Lauren, Tom and so many other who have been taken by cancer, and in support of Emily and those who continue to battle cancer with her, by making a donation to the PMC for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute's Jimmy Fund.  My goal this year is to raise at least $10,000 for the Jimmy Fund.  Through a dedicated effort to raise the necessary funding for cancer research, of which the PMC is such an important part, hopefully a cure for cancer will be found in our lifetimes.
