Rich Crowe's Ride

Why I Ride ...

I am a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading the campaign to beat cancer.  In fact, last year, 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s tireless commitment to finding a cure.
2011 will be my second ride in the PMC. Last year I rode in honor of my wife Sandy, who four years ago was diagnosed with Leukemia. She was a cancer survivor.Unfortunately, this year I will be riding in her memory. On July 23, 2011 Sandy passed away due to complications from pneumonia. Sandy's journey started in 2007, when Sandy  received a stem cell transplant from her sister, Terry. Our family will always be grateful for her wonderful gift of life.  Thanks to Dr. Corey Cutler and the incredible staff at Dana Farber, Sandy was able to enjoy some very special moments over the past four plus years with her family and friends.
I invite you to spend a moment and watch a documentary in which Sandy was involved with. It was produced by the Harvard Medical School and Dana Farber Hospital. It tells the story of stem cell transplant research and the tremendous progress going on in this field http://www.hsci.harvard.edu/finding-cure-leukemia-stem-cell-story
The incrediable pride, and passion I experience, from all those involved with the PMC event was very powerful and life changing.
Far too many family, friends and neighbors have been stricken with this dreaded disease. So it's in their honor and memory, that I will be riding again. It's away our family can give back, in the hopes, what we do today will help someone tomorrow.
I invite you to join my team and together we CAN and we  WILL make this hope and dream of finding a cure a reality

Thank you so much for your support.

Rich
