Pat Krippendorf's Ride
Why I Ride ...
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
The PMC has been an important cause for me for many years. I first became aware of the organization about 20 years ago when several people from our office rode (the full route) and other, less athletic co-workers, volunteered at a water stop.
Eight years ago, while training for the ride, the president of our company, Greg Davis, was killed. That made the event that much more important to all of us. Since then a group of employees rides in his name each year.
Since they started the 1 day ride a couple of years ago I figured even I could handle the ride and do my part to raise funds for this very worthy cause!
On August 2, I will join more than 5,000 other cyclists in the 30th Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, a bike-a-thon that raises money for cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. This spectacular event raised more than $35 million last year by donating 100% of all rider raised funds to the DFCI. The PMC holds the promise of helping eradicate this disease which affects millions each year.
I will be riding the 47-mile route from Wellesley to Wellesley. To take part in this event I need to raise a minimum of $1,000 and am asking for your help in achieving this goal. Donations are tax deductible and may be made online at http://www.pmc.org/egifts/PK0076
If you prefer to write a check, please make it out to the PMC, The Jimmy Fund or Dana Farber Cancer Institute and mail them to me at 39 Grant Rd, Swampscott MA 01907. I have until October 1 to complete my fundraising efforts.
If your employer has a matching gift program, get the form from HR, and follow the process for matches.
Any contribution you can make toward my ride would be most gratefully appreciated.
Thank you for your time and support!
