Peter Hutton's Ride

Why I Ride ...

Last year I rode my first PMC for my friend and Vineyard neighbor, Molly Callahan. Molly, 12, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on September 9, 2006. Molly is a real trooper who is doing much, much better this year. The photo in my gallery from last year's PMC is one of my favorites.

This year I am also riding for another Vineyard neighbor, Lulu deVeer. Lulu was diagnosed with lung cancer this winter. Her strength has been an inspiration to all of us this summer.

And finally, I am riding for my nephew, Daniel O'Connor. Daniel was diagnosed with a glioma brain tumor in January. He lives in Buffalo (where I grew up) and has endured major surgery, difficult procedures, chemo and radiation. His spirit, determination and courage are really extraordinary, and as you can see from the photo in my gallery he is supported by a wonderful family and great friends. As always, he is a joy to be around.
