Olaf Zwickau's Ride
Why I Ride ...
I have always been physically very active and will be participating in various triathlons this summer, including a half iron-man in August. Most of these events tend to give a portion of the profits to a worthy humanitarian organization. In addition to these races, I will once again push myself on my bike in the hopes of making a difference in the fight against cancer.
On August 7th and 8th of this year, I will be bike riding over 200 miles for one of the largest cancer fund raising events in the country, The Pan-Mass Challenge. To learn more, visit www.pmc.org for every donated dollar, 99 cents goes directly to the Jimmy Fund which is the biggest supporter of Boston's Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
My first experience with cancer came at the young age of 17 when I lost my mother to breast cancer. While the list of people that I personally know that have been affected by cancer is unfortunately too large to name, this year I am riding in special honor of four people.
· Jim Ehrlich " my friend and neighbor who lost the battle to melanoma last year at age 44.
· Emma Bechert " at age 9 and a friend of my son Jake, has been fighting a brain tumor for almost 7 years.
· My aunt " She has undergone full treatment for breast cancer and is currently fighting hard during the recovery stage.
· Sally Hewett " my friend, who has completed treatment for breast cancer and is currently in remission.
Would you please help with the fight against cancer with your tax deductable donation in support of my ride?
