Nicole Silvia's Ride

Why I Ride ...

On August 7, 2010 I will be riding 100 miles in the Pan Mass Challenge. I am riding for my friend Mary who is 7  years old.

I first met Mary Eisnor when she was about 15 months old. Mary and my daughter Kiersten went to the same daycare together and they became great friends. When Mary was diagnosed with stage IV hepatoblastoma in July 2006, I was devastated. How could this terrible disease affect so many children? I knew that I had to help. I joined the Jimmy Fund Walk Team Mary in September 2006. I have walked every year since. When I had the opportunity to join the Pan Mass Challenge, I was a little hesitant at first. I wondered if I would be able to raise the required amount of money, and would I be able to ride a bike for 100 miles. I remembered all of the procedures, treatments, and surgeries that Mary has endured. If Mary could fight so bravely for the last 4 years, then I knew that it was my job to help raise more money so that she still has the opportunity to show us what she is made of. I am proud to be part of the MILES FOR MARY team. Mary you are the bravest girl I know! We love you!
