Nathaniel Fenollosa's Ride
Why I Ride ...
My nephew, Henry Fenollosa, was born on June 2, 2005 with a tumor compressing his lumbar spine. A day later, at Children’s Hospital Boston, infant Henry received his first dose of chemotherapy. Today, 5 years and multiple chemotherapy cycles later, Henry is a bright and energetic kid with an infectious smile and a twinkle in his eye. Looking and listening to Henry now, it is hard to believe that the Henry I know today was once that tiny baby in the NICU, hardly 24 hrs old, receiving powerful lifesaving medicine through an IV infusion.
The Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute help children like Henry around the clock, day in and day out. Their expertise, compassion and untiring support are invaluable to children with cancer and their families. Conquering childhood cancer is an exhausting challenge, but one that can be overcome through courage, hope and determination. One pedal stroke at a time, I ride for Henry.
