Mark Robinson's Ride

Why I Ride ...

Hello, my name is Mark Robinson.  I live in Milton, Massachusetts with my wife Donna and my four daughters, Kristin, Nicole, Sarah & Jessica.  I am a CPA and a founding partner of Kirkland Albrecht & Fredrickson, P.C. (KAF), a CPA firm located in Braintree.  I am also a member of the Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy.

Cancer has touched me personally several times, most recently with my sister-in-law Jane; she died a little over 4 years ago after a long, hard fight with colon cancer.  This was my first family experience with this disease and Jane's battle has left me with the passion to personally join the fight against cancer.

My life outside of KAF over the past few years has become very fitness oriented.  At first, I just joined a local club and just went to work out as often as I could.  As time passed, I became interested in doing more.  I am a certified instructor of Bodypump (a strength training class taught in clubs around the world) and Spinning and I instruct both classes on a regular basis (3 spins a week).   I am very proud of my 6 year association with the staff and members of Weymouth Club in Weymouth.   Helping and motivating WC members to live a healthier lifestyle has proven to be rewarding in many ways.

This year, for the fourth time, I will capitalize on my own level of fitness and add my name to the list of tens of thousands of people who have participated in the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) over the last 30 years.  This is a family commitment as I will be doing the 163 mile ride from Wellesley to Provincetown with my wife Donna who will be riding in the PMC for the  fifth time.  The picture is us at the start of the ride 2 years ago.

 I am riding for the people I remember;

My sister-in-law Jane, who lost a long hard fight.

Bob, a high school friend who got his chance to attend Boston College, but never got to claim a diploma.

Fran, who lived across the street during my growing up days up in Quincy.

Anne, my business partner, Peg Fredrickson's mom who passed away a little over four years ago.

Susan, the kid from my neighborhood, who Dana-Farber helped beat childhood leukemia a long time ago.

Donna's longtime friend Jean, a cancer survivor and past PMC rider.
2 members & friends from Weymouth Club, Chris and Sue, both cancer survivors and frequent class participants.
4 work collegues from my professional past, Joe, Bob, Carole and Marion

Lastly, I will also ride for your family and friends, in honor of the ones you hold dear, for those who have won and survived their fight and in memory for the ones that lost their battle to this horrible disease.

For all of them, I will do the riding part, all 163 miles!.  In order for me to succeed I need your help.   My fundraising goal is $10,000.

With all the bad economic news of the last year the PMC needs our assistance more than ever. Together, we can make a difference and do it in the memory of those who fought and won, for those that are presently fighting and for those that fought and lost.

Thank you for your consideration.

Warmest regards,

Mark
