Matt Perakis's Ride
Why I Ride ...
Dear PMC Sponsors:
Well, here I am again; preparing myself for another 192-mile bike trek from Sturbridge to Provincetown in the 31st annual Pan Mass Challenge (my 8th ride since being diagnosed with and successfully treated for malignant melanoma in 2002). As Robert Frost wrote in one of his most famous poems "I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep. And miles to go before I sleep." But I am determined to get there once again on behalf of those who suffer or have succumbed to this insidious, dreadful disease.
Our 7-year fundraising total? $26,526.00. I cannot express how truly grateful I am to you for the continuous support and generosity. Each one of you share in this accomplishment and should take personal pride in it.

Now on to business.....I understand how tight money is these days, but the Jimmy Fund / DFCI needs your continued support. I am going to be a little more pushy than I have been in past years and ask everyone to contribute at least $50.00 towards my ride this year (or more if you can afford it). Each rider must raise at least $4,200.00 this year but if everyone to whom I send this message can do their part, I will meet this goal. And please remember that your contributions to PMC -- first and foremost -- help to save lives, but are also 100% tax deductible. An easier way to contribute may be to pool contributions among a group of your friends, families, and co-workers. Like me, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the generosity of most folks, but also touched by the personal stories they will share with you.
Finally, the prayer I asked you to say for me still applies this year; I am once again behind in my training, but will find the strength and inspiration to getter-done.
Thanks, and may God bless you and yours,
MJP
