Matt Mcelreath's Ride
My Story ...
This year I was not able to ride because we welcomed our daughter into the world back in December. I decided to put off the PMC for a year and dedicate my time and effort towards learning how to be a Dad. This was a very tough decision to make because my Grandfather lost his battle with cancer this past spring. On the day of this year's PMC I watched all the reports and saw some pictures from the weekend and it made me wish I was able to participate so bad. I missed the excitement and the rush of adrenaline while riding by crowd after crowd of cheering people. So I decided to sign up as a Virtual Rider so I could still raise at least a small amount of money to show my appreciation for all that Dana-Farber did for my grandfather.
As I write this, I am reflecting on the family reunion that is happening tomorrow. It will be the first reunion without my Grandfather. I'm sure there will be some sadness along with the fun times, but I know that he will be there with us in spirit and we can look back on the extra time we got to spend with him thanks to his treatments at the center.
Please consider making a donation for this great cause and join my Paceline.
See you next year, Provincetown...
Matt
