Matthew Levy's Ride
Why I Ride ...
I will once again join Team Perry and participate in the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) on August 6-7, 2011, a 163-mile bike ride from Wellesley to Provincetown, MA. The PMC is the largest single fund raising event for the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute located in Boston, MA.
My brother, Perry, died in October 1999 at the age of 32 after a short courageous battle with cancer of the small bowel. Perry's wife, Melissa, and our family established the "Perry S. Levy Fellowship for Gastrointestinal Research" at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. This Fund provides for the annual salary of two gifted medical research doctor whose contributions will help find a cure, so that the only way Perry's nephews and nieces will know about Cancer is to read about it. The sixth and seventh recipients are Drs. Andrea Myers and Kenneth May, Jr., young gifted oncologist whose enthusiasm and dedication makes it all worthwhile.
I am happy to say that last year I raised over $10,000 and Team Perry raised over $460,000 and came close to the $3,000,000 milestone thanks to you. This year Team Perry will have more than 70 riders including Melissa, Perry's father-in-law, cousins, and friends. I have once again set a personal goal of $10,000 and Team Perry has a goal of $400,000 which will get the fund close to the $3,500,000 mark and closer to the next goal of $4,000,000. I know that with your help and generosity Team Perry and I will once again reach our goals and working together we will eliminate this disease that has affected all of us in some way.
So go ahead,we've made it easy - click the eGift button on the right and help us make a difference in the fight against cancer. If you prefer to donate by check - please make your check payable to PMC-Jimmy Fund and send it to me at 5 Hearthstone Circle, Wayland, MA 01778.
Thank you in advance for your support.
