Matt Kondrath's Ride
Why I Ride ...
Hello from south Florida,
On August 4th and 5th I will be participating in my fifth Pan-Mass Challenge! For those of you that need a refresher, here's the dilly-o:
The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is a two day, 192 mile bike-a-thon from Sturbridge, MA to Provincetown, MA. The PMC raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. With 100% of each dollar raised going directly to the Jimmy Fund, the PMC has contributed more than $250 million to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since its 1980 inception. Last year alone, the PMC gave over $35 million to the Jimmy Fund and this year's goal will be to surpass that amount.
It's difficult to find anyone who has not been affected by cancer and my family is no different. My mom passed away in July of 2005. Mom's brother, my Uncle Dan, passed in October of 2009 after a 4+ year battle. On the bright side my Aunt Carol has successfully overcome breast cancer after being diagnosed in July of 2009. I will ride to honor my family and all those forced to battle this brutal disease.
So I'm back asking for your help again, this year to achieve my goal of raising $7,000! Your generosity is how I have been able to raise more than $23,300 over the last four years participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge. THANK YOU!!!
