Marina Barrett's Ride

Why I Ride ...

Dear Family and Friends,

It is safe to say that most of us have witnessed the battle of someone close to us either conquer or lose the fight against cancer. I have never publicly shared my personal story of being a witness to both these types of situations. I have suffered the loss of my Father, Thomas Campos. I have endured the loss of a wonderful mentor and Grandmother, Lucille Barrett. And have had the pleasure of supporting a dear friend through her private battle with Breast Cancer, she is still winning and I will not disclose her name. Having seen and been intimately involved in parts of these battles they taught me the true meaning of these words and made them come to life; Bravery, Grace, Humor and Honor.

I have taken these lessons and always try to incorporate them into my life’s path. In honor of these people and for the fight against cancer this year I am proud to announce that I have combined my passion for fundraising and being active in a way I never have before. I am now a new member of Team Brielle’s Brigade! This bike team has participated in The Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) for seven years. Over this period of time they have raised close to a million dollars. All of Team Brielle’s Brigade money goes directly to the Pan Mass Challenge which is then 100% given to The Jimmy Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Each individual rider is responsible for raising $4,300. Please allow PMC to be your avenue in the fight against cancer.

Your generosity and help in the continuing effort to wipe cancer off the face of the earth is deeply appreciated. We will be riding on August 4 and 5th please think of us and we know your spirit will be with us.

I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
