Leah Demetri's Ride
Why I Ride ...
All my life, I have watched my father endlessly devote his time and energy to curing cancer through his work at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Our dinner time conversations often include stories recounting his latest break-through discovery, my dad’s face beaming as he describes yet another patient whose fatal tumors had not just shrunken but completely disappeared without a single surgery. If I have learned one thing from growing up with an oncologist for a father, it is that cancer research these days is more promising than ever.
Three years ago, I joined my dad in completing the 192-mile PMC ride, and needless to say, it was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life. Watching such a diverse group of patients, family members, and doctors come together to support a common cause with such vibrant hope and energy was truly breathtaking.
This summer, I will be flying home from Stanford to ride alongside my dad once again with Paul's Posse. This team was started by one of my dad's incredible patients, Paul, who has been in and out of remission for many years and continues to rock the PMC whenever his health permits (he kicked my butt in 2008!)
Teamwork is what the PMC is all about, and you can join me in making a difference through your generous contributions.
