This is my second year participating in the Pan Mass Challenge and it brings me a bitter sweet feeling.  I'm overjoyed to be riding this year as I just received news that I now can celebrate my 10 year anniversary as a survivor of breast cancer.  Yet I am also sad participating because my best friends husband did not have the same outcome.  Their nightmare began four years ago with a diagnosis of stomach cancer to a sneak surprise of a small cell lung cancer which resulted in taking his life this past fall. 

 

As far as we've come in research and all the money raised through not only the Pan Mass but through other cancer fundraisers there are many successes and miracles and still so many heartaches and devestations.  If only we could swing the pendelum more to the side of success.

 

Too many of us are affected in some manner by cancer be it personal struggle or watching from the sideline.  I truly beleive in my heart, actually, I'm convinced, it doesn't have to be this way.  We've made so many strides and wonderful accomplishments and yet like everything in this world, more can be done to help further our strides and success for the folks who don't get to celebrate another anniversary.
